A question is half of knowledge...Islam is about striving towards perfection not about proving that we are.
First up, a warm salam to all our readers and thank you for all I your support. I had no idea when I was setting this site up that so many people were looking for exactly this kind of what shall we call it...platfom. Ok, you say so where are they all??...relax it's just the beginning and we all know that Shias are notorious for thinking a looooong time before actually getting up and doing it (this is a reminder that the slogan so attributed to NIKE is actually originally Imam Ali's (as) where he tells us that if we want to do something good but have a doubt that initially attempts to prevent us, that voice is actually Shaitan's. In that sittuation we should 'just do' what ever we were initially inspired to do.
So getting back to my initial point. I wanted to say that while a question is half of knowledge and that the knowledge we recieve as a result of inspired questions and curiosity guide us into realms that we never thought we would be led because they are like the curiousity of the child's inquisitiveness, why not approach this communication, connection, warming up process - whatever you want to get out of it from the point of asking questions.
Lets approach this elephant the other way around. Anyone had an experience that they do not want to share but are wondering if someone who knows of someone else who has had a similar experience that you would like to share?
What I'm saying here is: There is something going on in our community or community we know and we want to know if others have experienced the same problem (or blessing). Unfortunatly its always the negatives that are much more seen, heard and experienced probably because most of us are moving upwards and would like to solve the problems or challenges along the way, whether in the community, extended family or most of all friends.
We all want to solve the problems of humanity right??
I have found one issue in the Islamic communities that I have had the pleasure of getting to know - we all seem to suffer from the same trait. Seeing the belonging to Islam as an expected certificate for being perfect and so we try to put on a front so that no one else knows how weak or.....human we are.
But is that what Islam is supposed to be? I like to believe that the concept of Islam especially today where we do have so many social problems in any society and community (whether financial or otherwise) is to accept that we are all imperfect but as a result of claminig Islam accept also that we will battle through ANY problem BUI and here is the difference between true Islam and none submission - WE REFUSE TO DEAL IN ANY WAY BUT THE MOST UPRIGHT. We refuse to fall for temptations of underhandedness in order to come out ontop (or pretend that we are on top because no one can come out on top by going through underhanded means or - listening to Shaitan.
That being said:
Let's try to ask questions and answer the questions of others to see how similar or different our communities or lives really are.
There is a saying (not quite sure where it is from but my mother quotes it often)
Disfunctional families have one thing in common, they are all different but happy families have one thing in common, they are all the same.
Human nature is such that when there is a problem, the soul sets about trying to solve it. Likewise, once a question has been asked our minds set in motion to try and help the person asking the question - like a hero. Let's see how this method works because its like a game and we all like games. Muslims tend to be too serious anyway. :)
What just came in my mind is that sentence we see in movies when people go to the Alcaholics Anonymous meeting and they say: My name is such and such and I am an alcaholic...
Well I am Nasreen Syed, I'm a Muslim and....I'm NOT PERFECT!!!!
I hope no one takes offence to my using AA as an example...it is ONLY an example.
(Forgive me for my weaknesses in this post and any other...I'm only human trying my best like all of you)
Let's stay real.
